Come by see Inocybe’s General Manager, John Zannos and Javier Ger, Cloud Infrastructure Strategy Manager, Teleco Argentina discuss Software Defined Networking (SDN) for CDNs and Tier 2 Service Providers. See below for more information:
The ongoing shift from hardware-based, dedicated network functionality to software-based networking built on virtualized infrastructure appears to be in full swing. Content Delivery Networks (CDNs), which play a critical role in the delivery of high-quality video (such as Netflix, YouTube), provide an excellent use case for deployment within these evolving frameworks.
Accommodating new technology and satisfying customer demand for video are only a subset of the larger benefits realized with SDN infrastructure. Among them:
- A more CapEx-friendly use and reuse of available server resources, in which the operator can leverage the same servers for CDN and/or other services and apps when and where needed
- Simplified provisioning, failure management, and other operational tasks, targeted at reducing OpEx
- Reduced time to market for new services enhances revenues and customer satisfaction
